Introduction

The American Revolution was a war that lasted from 1765-1783, as the 13 colonies broke from the British Empire and formed an independent nation, The United States of American. (This is where you applaud and cheer.)  There were many events leading up to the actual war that angered the colonist. Many colonists boycotted British goods and eventually fought back physically. The British King and Parliament took these act as a sign of treason and rebellion. In response, a war raged. With the help of the French navy, the colonists were able to defeat the British and successfully form a new nation and later give birth to the term "Americans." This is their story...
